TCI Expanding
Program for Veterans
Dare 2 Dream Program Emphasized
NEW YORK, February 20th Tactical PR/ -- Hundred year old, New York City based technical institute TCI announced
that they are expanding their Dare 2
Dream; Dare to Repair program geared
to help veterans and low income minority students transition to well paying, in
demand careers.
“The New York
metropolitan area has numerous returning veterans in need of skills training
that will prepare them for lucrative careers. These careers will help them
raise families, improve their lives and benefit society,” said Dr. James
Melville, the school’s president. “Dare 2 Dream; Dare to Repair program is
focused on aiding veterans and the economically disenfranchised build solid, in
demand careers. We at TCI are redoubling
our efforts to help these brave men and women develop bright futures.”
With many economists and pundits pointing to an impending recession,
veterans – especially those returning from lengthy stays overseas – face less
than robust economic prospects. TCI’s
decision to expand its veteran’s oriented program is based on the challenging
financial times that many in the New
York City area are certain to confront, in the face of
a national economic slowdown.
“Veterans are facing challenging circumstances when it comes to
leaving the service and reintegrating back into civilian life.
Certain skills may not translate directly into well paid careers. There
is a great need for education, training and retraining on the
subject. With the potential of a recession confronting us, any help for
veterans is both timely and well appreciated,” said Jim McDonough, the New York
State Director of the Division of Veterans' Affairs.
The Dare 2 Dream; Dare to Repair
program works to insure that veterans do not go from valued members of the
armed forces to working in the low paid, menial labor workforce. Computer and other technical skills are
taught giving individuals strong marketplace value irrespective of general
economic conditions.
“TCI has been in the business of technical training for one hundred
years. Over that time we have served the tri-state area by turning out individuals
with needed and valued skills. Today, in
the area of computing for example, we are helping the community with first rate
training. We are very pleased to be able to redouble our efforts for veterans,”
added Melville.
